“The Tseshaht First Nation is a vibrant community on the West Coast of Vancouver Island in Port Alberni, British Columbia, with an active and progressive natural resources-based economy. We are proud of our culture and work as a community to preserve our traditional values and the teachings.

Tseshaht translates as “the people of Ts’ishaa,” a place on what is known today as Benson Island, one of the Broken Group Islands in Barkley Sound. We are one of the 14 Nations that make up the Nuu-chah-nulth [Nootka] people of western Vancouver Island.”
