Treaty Victoria is a statewide process to negotiate Australia’s first modern treaties between the Victorian Government and First Peoples of Victoria. It aims to recognise Indigenous sovereignty, support self-determination, and establish new relationships grounded in truth-telling, justice, and shared decision-making. Covering all of Victoria, the treaty process creates a framework for addressing historical and ongoing harms, protecting culture and Country, and reshaping how laws, land, and resources are governed in partnership with Aboriginal communities.
